Classical Revolution ~ Amanda Hillestad and Greg Massey

It has been far too long since we have had the opportunity to share music and hope in a live venue. Amanda Hillestad and Greg Massey are honoured to have the opportunity with Classical Revolution to bring you an evening of reflection, hope, friendship, and connection. Come enjoy new music by Canadian composer, Katerina Gimon, as well as works by Poulenc, Ravel, and Puccini. The second set of the evening will traverse the realm of Jazz and Folk music to celebrate our Canadian and universal roots.

Amanda Hillestad, a Calgary native, is ecstatic to be sharing a stage and music again! She is a graduate from McGill University’s Classical Vocal Performance program and has performed as The Queen in The Queen, The Bear, and The Bumblebee at the Banff Center and at the Taylor Center for Performing Arts. Amanda has performed in the Mountain View Chamber Music Festival, in the Mountain View Recital Series at the Lougheed House and a recital at the King Eddy with Julie Harris and Eileen Kosashi. She has been seen in excerpts and roles with McGill Opera, has participated in Opera Nuova and returned to work a tour as Mrs. Henceforth and Telerina in Isaiah Bell’s Mr. Moreover’s Magic. Amanda has performed with the Calgary Arts Orchestra, VoiceScapes, Classical Revolution Calgary, the Bach Society, Cowtown Opera, and Early Music Voices. Amanda is excited to share her new role as Vice Presidents for the Southern Alberta Chapter of the National Association for Teachers of Singing as well as Vocal Director at Central Memorial’s Performing and Visual Arts Program.

Greg Massey is a versatile musician who is trained in musical genres spanning from classical, to jazz, to rock. Greg is a skilled collaborative pianist who works with singers and instrumentalists of all ages and abilities. His formal education includes completing a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Alberta’s Augustana Campus, studies in jazz piano at Grant MacEwan College, and a year of graduate work at the University of Alberta’s main campus. Greg also achieved his Grade 10 certificate in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Greg is currently living in Calgary, Alberta where he is an active teacher and pianist, working as music assistant for Central Memorial High School’s Performing and Visual Arts program, collaborative pianist at John G. Diefenbaker High School, Calgary Multicultural Choir and Westwinds Mixed Chorus and as pianist and sound technician at Hillhurst United Church.
