Doug has written lots of songs and is currently presenting them with guitar loops. As well as winning first place in the Calgary Folk Fest Songwriting contest two years in a row, Doug has composed music for film, TV, theatre, and modern dance.

This week’s featured artist is Scarlett Butler (scarlettbutler.com), a talented songwriting duo turned professional performing artists. With a decade of successful radio hits (250+ songs) under their belts, Troy Kokol and Joni Delaurier bring their songwriting prowess to the forefront – but this time, for themselves. Gifted musicians and singers, Delaurier and Kokol captivate audiences’ moments after their first note rings out. Their latest single ‘Big Vacation’ is a fresh summer love song, and can be found on all major streaming services.

Aretha Tillotson is a Canadian upright and electric bassist and composer. She has performed as a side woman for Mike Murley, Jim Head, and Charlie Austin, Josh Rosen, and Allan Chase. Aretha has performed with her quartet across Canada and in the United States at a number of venues, including The Rex, The Yardbird Suite, The Jubilee Auditorium, and The Winspear Centre.

Alberta’s most caliente Latin-Jazz Ensemble, Montuno West, is comprised of former members from Alberta’s Latin musical stalwarts, Bomba and Cumako.

Create Kids Fest is collaborating with The Asylum for Art to present a monthly event called “Not for Kids Only!” Each month, a local or touring children’s artist hits the stage to entertain kids and their families.
