B.Beats Music is a mother-daughter GuZheng Duo based in Calgary. Our primary goal is to create and perform relaxing music, seamlessly integrating elements of Western music into our performances.
Ying brings over 20 years of experience in GuZheng teaching and performance to our duo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music in 2004, specializing in GuZheng. As a founder of the YingZhou Zither band, she has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in traditional Chinese music.
Betty embarked on her GuZheng journey at the age of 5 and quickly became a main player in the field. Together, Ying and Betty have showcased their talents at various events and venues, including Saks Fifth Avenue, East Town Get Down, University of Calgary, Heritage Park, Age Care Seton, Shalem Society for Senior Citizens Care, and Ironwood Stage and Grill.
Our repertoire extends beyond traditional performances, as we have also engaged in busking at popular events such as the Lilac Festival and Marda Gras Street Festival. B.Beats Music is dedicated to delivering a unique and enjoyable musical experience from East to West.
