Esteban Herrera

I arrived in Calgary 5 years ago, in January 2017. These 5 years have revolutionized me in a way I never imagined. I have gone through many emotional, physical and mental challenges, which have given me a new life perspective. Now more than ever, I know that dreams can be achieved. Since I arrived here, many times I have not being able to play as much as I need to be happy, I have not being able to study as much as I need to feel in good shape, sometimes I felt that my dream was broken into a thousand pieces. But not anymore. Now the light is reaching my window. The greatest satisfaction I have had has been to feel that growth. Feeling that I am recognized with grants and concerts that allow me to reinvest in what is truly important to me: music, is my dream come true. This album, “Esteban Herrera Piano Solo Vol. 1”, was made thanks to the Individual Micro Grant 2021, granted by Alberta Music and the government of Alberta. This album is a sample of free improvisation on first takes only. Six improvisations of mine on the piano conform this album. My musical life has depended on improvisation since I discovered it in my youth. It is the most fabulous experience. Getting into the right hypnotic state, allows me to transmit pure emotion. I am presenting this album with a live piano solo performance of free improvisation. The piano is my message and my channel. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoy doing it.
