Biography
Sarah is a certified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Université Sainte-Anne in Church Point, NS. Ever since a young age, she has been involved with the arts.
In her younger years, Sarah participated in many plays (both on stage and back stage), bands, and choirs, receiving distinctions in both Music and Drama at the end of high school. In university, she continued to work on her artistry in both music and theatre programs - participating in Music Workshops, Choir (Lead Soloist), Regional Band (1st Alto Saxophone), Talent Shows and Competitions, Jam Sessions, writing and producing her own play, and participating in the University Drama Troupe (Actor, Stage Manager, Sound). Sarah is currently involved with the Storybook Theatre Spring Musical “The Music Man”. She is a singer songwriter and has performed as a solo artist at weddings, markets, festivals and open mics in Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia.
In Sarah’s public education career, she has taught Art, Drama, Musical Theatre, Acapella and Glee to students aged 10-16. She has also taught music privately to all ages in voice, guitar, piano and music theory. She specializes in teaching beginner students where she uses a variety of teaching strategies to motivate and encourage a love of music and artistry by using interest based music and recognizing each learner’s unique learning style. Sarah is thrilled to be joining the Asylum for Art team.
