About Lesson
Illustrate a Fable
Applying one’s techniques to an existing subject matter is a powerful way to begin a project, as it removes the barrier of wondering “what should I draw? Where do I start?”
Â
In this class, more advanced students will use their skills to illustrate a fable or tale by Aesop, or any myth or legend they connect with. We will explore together how to connect personally with the subject and find our own way of telling the story through an illustration.Â
Â
Students will learn the principle of layout, design, flow and pace, and employ negative and positive spaces. Students can choose to illustrate one panel or a storyboard (storyboard paper provided.)Â
Â
Materials needed (supplied, but feel free to bring your own): Pencil and eraser, Paper (smooth with not too much tooth, markers/pens of your choice, and a ruler.
